H3XL – Judges & Showcase – Local FLL Competition

Back in December 2012, a few of our members helped run a local FLL (FIRST Lego League) robotics competition at Einstein’s Workshops, formerly known as H3XL at the time.  Here, our members acted as judges and helped critique elementary and middle school students on their designs and taught them how to think like an engineer and improve their design through efficiency, ingenuity, and diligence.  During the competition we had our own booth where we showcased a prototype of our “Ring it Up” robot from last year  as a source of inspiration for these future engineers. Many of the young students were appreciative of and impressed by our presence, and almost all of them said they wanted to give the competition another try the following year after hearing our advice.
